Get Involved
There are many ways to get involved with OWHE: Book Club, Committee Member, Campus Contact, Mailing List.
Book Club
Each year, OWHE selects a book for discussion at the next annual conference. The book chosen for the 2009 conference is "Succulent Wild Woman" by Sark. Please plan on reading this book and sharing your thoughts at the 2009 conference with colleagues from around the state. See our list of books.
Committee Member
Each year OWHE seeks motivated and creative women around the state to plan the next annual conference. This is a wonderful opportunity to network and gain conference planning and leadership skills. The committee meets on the second Friday of each month throughout the year at different institutions around the state. For those interested in serving on the committee but are unable to drive to each meeting, we offer the option of teleconferencing. If you have an interest in being a part of this committee, please let us know.
Campus Contact
OWHE would like every campus in Oregon and Southwest Washington to have a Campus Contact. The campus contact should let women new to their campus know about the existence of OWHE and be able to describe the organization and conference a bit. The campus contact agrees to receive OWHE mailings (for example, one envelope with several pre-addressed brochures inside) and to distribute those mailings to the individuals through campus mail. The campus contact will also let OWHE know when folks need to be removed or added to their mailing list. The responsibilities are relatively light, so it is a good opportunity to be involved even if your time is very limited.
Mailing List
To be added to the OWHE mailing list or to update your address, please contact us. Please include your name, title, institution and mailing address. Registration materials are mailed in early December.
